Hi all - First time poster.

I created a structural column schedule. In this schedule I included the field:

-Top Offset

-Bottom Offset

As well as other fields (but I’m only having issues with only these 2)

Issue:

I change the top/bottom offset (ie: bottom to -250mm/ top to 1200mm) through the schedule. I then go to the model and select the column I just changed the top/bottom offset. Check the properties and the offset distances are matching the column schedule, Perfect! BUT, the model does not show the offsets. The model still visually looks like default offset (which is 0mm)

The strange part is... when I change the offset through the property manager the column in the model reflects the change.

My question is:

Why doesn’t the column offset change in the model if I update the information through the schedule?

Any input would greatly be appriciated.

Thank you in advance.

I forgot to mention I'm using

Revit Architecture 2012.

I have had the same issue in Revit 2013.  I submitted it as a bug to Autodesk.  I'll let you all know the results.

I don't know anything about structural but I'm curious.  If after changing the settings from the schedule and you save and close the project, is the model then shown correctly?  If so, then this is something you should share with AutoDESK.

Its a good thought.  I was hoping that would "remodel" or refresh the geometry while loading the project, but sadly, this doesn't work.

YIKES !

Strange, I've never tried editing the Top or Base offsets of a column through a quantity schedule but you are 100% correct.

OMG do NOT edit the Base and Top offset of a column through the schedule. Simple to test and I made it do some horrible things.

Major bug.

Note two things in the image attached.

1. The ignored top and base column offsets from the schedule tot he model.

2. I have clicked on a column in the 3D view and note that it reports top and bottom offsets in the properties palette that is NOT conveyed in the model.

I saved and opend the project twice and there it was unchanged like a poltergeist !!

This works in Revit Structure 2013.

Modify the column in the graphical schedule and it appears correct on plan and in section.

The question refers to a structural column schedule, not a graphical column schedule.

I tested the original question in Revit 2013 OneBox, and my report is that, yes, the bi-directionality is broken in this case. Changing the offset values from the properties window updates the column and the schedule, but changing the offset values from the schedule does not update the column nor the instance properties !!
