How can I modify the linework of a walltype, such that a furring wall only has a heavy line on the outside face.

jsepp,
which version of Revit are you working with... Taking wth easy way out, if you're working with Revit 8.1 you can control the lineweight within the wall layers in the visibilty graphics - Override Host Layers... Try that. If you are using a later verision the answer is not as simple but accomplishable.
I'll wait for your response before I go about the whole explaination from relase 4 and up.

thanks for your reply. sorry for my delayed response. I am using 8.1 and know about the linework modify tool but am looking for a more global solution. It seems to me that it is the nature of a furring wall type that it is always a single sided component and thus looks strange everywhere on a drawing when both sides of the wall are heavy lines....but you understand this I'm sure.
Thanks again for your reply. I think this is a tough question and maybe one that Revit can't answer at this point in the game...maybe in 9.0?
