Hey guys, I know there are trouble shooting forums out there but I have more trust in my Revit community friends. So my Samsung laptop has recently gone belly up; there is something wrong with windows so I get past the loading screen, it just locks up. I can't even get into safe mode. I have every so often created restore points in case something like this happened; but when I hit the magic F4 to go into the recovery, it just freezes up.

The fine people at Samsung were useless and I don't want to call microsoft. Any ideas on how I can get back up and running, even if I have to wipe it clean and start over? (PS I don't have any operating systems cd's because (according to Samsung) apparantly computers just come with windows permanently installed on a small partition of the harddrive).

Does it get really hot?  I had a laptop do something similar and no one was able to correctly diagnose it.  I always suspected a heat sink issue.

There's a solution out there where you use a penny, some heat conductive adhesive compound and do the fix yourself.  You need to be willing to "bake it" at low temp in the oven.  I know it sounds crazy but search it out on youtube.

Hope it helps.

Disclaimer:  I haven't done it yet.  I had to get a new laptop and then my wife found this possible solution...haven't gotten around to it.
