Hi Guys
How do I draw symbolic lines for a sliding door or sliding window in a revit family? Do I need to draw two oblique reference planes to host my arrow and lock my lines to the appropriate reference as also done for the model or is there any simpler way of doing this?

No need for any of that. Just go to the appropriate view - plan - elevation - section and draw the symbollic lines. Lock them to any model components that are parametric or dimension form those elements or available ref planes if it is a parametric family.
Be aware that in elevation views, your symbollic linework might defaut t 3D. Check that by looking in a 3D view. If so, pick the lines in the appropriate view and pick the convert lines tab.

Many Thanks WWHub. I have tried it as you suggested and it worked perfect.
