To add your own parameters for objects, including standardized objects from Revit, like doors or even rooms...

In the example attached, I add parameters that will display in room schedules and on drawings in room tags. By using shared parameters, you can standardize your new parameters for every project you want to (re)use them in.
A couple of pitfalls to avoid.
- When defining the parameter in the objects file, notice you have to select the type and Revit defaults the type to "Length"; you must select the right type (in my example = "text").
- When adding the object or tag with the newly defined shared parameter, you have to add the fields in a schedule. Fields / add parameters / shared parameter / <select parameter group > / <select the parameter> / CLICK "add to all parameters in category", an easy step to miss.
