I am using Revit 2012 and looking to create an lighting power density (W/sq.m.) of an existing model with room names and fixtures already in it. However, when i make the schedule, nothing shows up, just the titles of the columns. What might be causing this?

First, is your schedule of the right category? I'm not clear if this is to be a lighting fixture schedule or not. If the schedule was created as a mechanical equipment schedule, for example, it will not show lighting fixtures. Once a schedule is created, there's no way to tell what category it's for (unless you have air terminals showing up, in which case you'll know it's an air terminal schedule, etc.)
Next, check to see if there is a filter applied to the schedule. If your filter is set to look for an equipment tag value of ABC, make sure you have the equipment tag value in the family filled in with ABC (and not abc). Filters can be set up in a number of ways, so make sure your filter is not filtering out the data you want in the schedule. If you are getting only column headers and no rows of data (even if blank), that means that the schedule is not able to find your families at all, so it may be one of these two items.
Also check the schedule formatting to see whether "itemize every instance" is checked on the Sorting/Grouping tab of the schedule properties dialog. For some schedules you want every instance shown, and for others, you just need one line per type in the project, regardless of how many instances you have.
Once you know that the schedule can find the right families, check the families themselves. The families have to have all the same SHARED parameters that the schedule was built with. If any of these parameters are not present in the families, the schedule cells will be blank AND uneditable (i.e., you won't be able to get your cursor into the cell). If your schedule is set to NOT itemize every instance, the scheduled parameters in the family all need to be TYPE parameters. If any are instance parameters, they will not be editable if the "itemize every instance" box is unchecked.
Hope this helps.
