Is there a way to get dimensions larger that 1'-0" to display as 12"? I end dimensioning a lot of things on 1/8" plans and it would make things less muddy(see attached) if dims like 1'-6" displayed as 18". Thanks in advance.

Create a dimension type that has its units set to inches.

I guess that would work. It seems like it should be made a project wide setting in a future release.
Thanks for the tip wwhub!

You can make it a project wide setting already. Manage Tab / Project Units

I've got a handful of dimension types in my projects. Some that round to inches, for siteplans. Some that round to the nearest 1/8th inch.
Some that are exact, and measure only in inches, for details. There are so many different needs, autodesk has made dimensions types very customizable. When you find which dimension types you use most, add them to your default template, and now they are project-wide and default when you start something new.

Yah, but i only want dims under a certain length to be expressed in inches. Revit already does this because something that is 11" long is not expressed as 0'-11". It knows to drop the foot value when it is less than one. If i change it as a project wide setting, my overall building dims will be in inches and the Contractor will dig a special hole for me on site. I think your recommendation of making a different dim type is the best option.

There is a checkbox to "suppress zeros" for a dimension style which will do exactly what you want.
