Revit 2012 : I have a topo file linked to the main building file. I am trying to render a 3d exterior view of the building (new construction ). I see the linked topography in black lines in my elevations.
The question/ problem unsolved is how to get the site/ ground to be visible as per the linked topography in the 3d view of the main file .
Linked file: Topography
Main File: ArchitecturalBuilding
Thx

Make sure you have topography on in the main model. Do a ZE - zoom extends, your topograpy may not be where you think it is.

I can see the topo in light gray lines sitting beneath the building (3d view window)
The same topos can be viewed in clear black lines (wire frame or hidden lines dispaly options) and earth fill brown shade in shaded dispaly option.
This is not happening the same in any 3d viewwindow.
I would like to see it brown earth fill color in the 3d view window and be able to render it.
working in revit 2012 architecture.
Thx

The building which consists the main rvt file ; can be shaded but the topo that is the linked file is only in gray tones and that too only in the 3d view window

Obviously you have some sort of graphic overrides set. Could be by view or project.
- Linked files can be controlled seperately in the VG settings or can be controlled by the host files VG settings. Look at those.
- Are you using phases with pase graphic over-rides? What are those?
- Is the topo a real Revit topo with material assigned? Like grass - asphalt?

The thing is I could see the topo in solid shade before I gave it to another architect for review.
After I have got it back, the topo land fill has become a distant gray tone and that too only in the 3d view.
The architect is not available to be reached and I am stuck at this point before I can call it work done! :-(
The thing @ phase overrides: I do not think this is causing a problem since the topo is visible as solid fill in elevation.
@ vg: Maybe this is where the problem is , but I do not know what settings I should change here.
Thx

I found the solution: The vg window> the Underlay and Half tone SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CHECKED ,
Iunchecked them and could get the view as required: solid shade

Site plan for the main Project file with the a linked contour revit file .
My 'VG' IN Site plan window is unchecked.
But I am not able to see the contour lines at all. not even grey lines.
The linked countour is visible in all other windows, ie, sections, plans, elevations and views.
Any suggestions?

More details:
The countour is visible in the "hidden elements" window.
Butafter selecting the topo , when I click on "unhide elements " or "uhind category", THE TOPOGRAPHY LINES do not become viisble in view, in short, unhide does not work on htis.
What should I do to solve it?
