My only experience was with AutoCAD (25 years or so) and Revit blows away AutoCAD.

I'd have to agree, once you are proficient in Revit i really can't be touched.

To re-phrase what teafoe5 said. Your better than Building Design and Drawing experience is going to be deterimed by the level of your proficiency and implementation of Revit. I'm sure that die-hard Archicad people think they have the better software program.  So goes the world.

I would also say that... each program has its strengths and weaknesses.

Sketchup might be better for quick 3D modeling.  Its final product is very pleasing to the eye, and intuitive to use.

Autocad might be superior for line drawing, and views like details where you know what you want, and you just want to draw it.

But Revit is the best complete tool for designing a building from conceptual design to CDs.  When all things are considered, it's not a competition.   While other programs might excel in a niche, they all have Achiles' heels as well and fall short in some way whereas revit is solid.
