Yoz all, I'm currently using Revit Architecture 2012, been trying to import an Autocad 2012 file into Revit.
Problem is, the file consists of a layout drawing of a huge country club, and when I tried to import the file in, it is brought into Revit as a 1 whole object. However, I want to separate them into the various autocad layers.
I've tried to research that partial explode can help me in this, but it exceed 10,000 elements. Some people actually don't recommend exploding anything in Revit, as it will become a huge mess later on? However, I need not split them into each lines themselves, but just their individual layers, for e.g. a table imported into Revit will be separate from the Main imported layout, and NOT into each and every lines of the table.
Hence, is there a way to split all the elements in their respective autocad layers? Pardon if my explanation is bad, but I'll be glad to define more if you guys require me to

Take the 15 minutes it would take to make three different CAD files with the layer sets you want. Revit is not so simple to manipulate layers. its easier to link files and screw with those...or at least thats what I would try.

How did using the 'Imported Categories' tab of the Visibility Graphics Overrides' [VG] work ?
You can see all the DWG layers there in REVIT and turn them on and off, change the color and linetype.
