I am in the process of standardizing our family library, and one thing that is consistent across each family is needing to create the 3D view "Preview", adjusting its visibility settings, changing the view scale, orientation, etc. etc.Since this is becoming tedious quickly, is there a script or some way I can run an automated string of commands when I open each file so I'm not doing all of the repetitive clicking?Photoshop has this feature under Actions where you can record a series then replay them later in a different file. It is very handy and I guess I'm looking for the same end result in Revit...Any suggestions?

Applying a view template may take care of most of your issues.

Right, I know about view templates, but how do I create one inside of a family? And can I apply one to a 3D view?

In your family click on the VIEW in your project browser and in your Properties under Identity Data click View Template, in the Apply View Templates dialog box check the show views to show your Ref. Level and you should be able to apply that template to any view.

Sorry, I'm still not following. When I click on the view in the project browser, all that shows up under properties is a drop down for "Default View Template" and there are none selectable...please see picture.

Sorry I did not realize that you are in 2012.  I know that you can do it in a family in 2013 but I don't believe that you can do it in 2012 unless I too am missing something.
