I'm an MEP guy so this is stumping me. I am trying to help someone out by doing a rendering of some rooms.

Is there any way to render so that there are no shadows?

I have it set up so the walls are transparent and all my colors set, but when I do render the sun is casting shadows. Is there any way to do a rendering without shadows and have it full of light still?

In Render setting you can control the Sun and Shadows.

I still can't get it to not cast shadows. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I don't believe that you will be able to completely turn them off but look up "soft shadows" in your help menu

I am genuinely curious -- If you are not interested in shadows, then why are you doing a rendering?

If you want the render materials only, then I would suggest the "Realistic" view style.  With or without edges.

try turning off sun and shadows in the 3d view before you go to Render window. otherwise, the post above is the answer.
