We are starting a project in Revit 2013 and I was curious if anyone out there is using Revit for their civil drawings? We are trying to decide if it would be best to just continue to draw the civil in AutoCAD (architecture) like we normally do or if we should try to do it in Revit. All I have read about was people saying that Revit isn't really good for civil work. We don't need any renderings so 3D views are not needed so we could essentially just creat the site with detail lines and no model elements but is that worth switching over from CAD?

It sounds to me like Civil 3D AutoCAD is still the best solution.

Unfortunately we do not have Civil 3D so we have to either use AutoCAD or Revit

In CAD, you are just doing 2D stuff - right?
I suggest, you allow your surveyor create the CAD topograpy/survey drawing that you use to create your 3D Revit site model and you do everything else in REVIT. 2D if you need to just ike you currently do.

You might take a look at the above. I am using some techniques of which there are several to create streets roads, etc. and you can use MEP to create basic piping plans etc.

So you can have variety of possible working options, try the both in Revit and in AutoCadd.
