I am trying to model a parametric CMU detail family and I've got most things how I want them...the last thing I'm trying to do is create a checkbox to change the face of the CMU block from plain to split face. I know how to apply visibility parameters to an item, but when unchecked it will disappear...how do I make it so that when checked, it shows the split face line, and when unchecked, it just shows a straight line? I'm trying to avoid masking regions since they would mess with the hatch of the block. Many thanks.

Ok, found partial answer on AUGI with the "Not (Y)" command...but...

Is there a way to do this if the line in question defines the boundary of a filled region? For instance, if a checkbox is checked, one line of the boundary is squiqqly (as in a split face CMU block) and if unchecked, it is straight. But in both cases, ideally, the filled region would conform to whichever line is selected.

Click on the straight line in your family.  Now look at the properties.  At the end of the visible line with the check box is a pulldown.  Se that to your appropriate parameter.
