I recently started with a new firm that has been using colored lines in Revit to match their CAD layers. I just started a new project in a newly installed release of Structure 2013 and I'm using out-of-the-box families form the 2013 Imperial Library. I brought in some preious released families from templates and previous projects and painstakingly changed the colored line styles and fillls to black and grey. 

Even when I bringing in fresh new components into the file they miraculoulsy revert to the privious line styles. I cannot just change the color of the line styles but actually have to change the names they are called in order to get rid of this infection. How and why is this happening? Is there a hidden Shared Parameter file that keeps reverting to previous practices?

Your project Object Styles settings override the family OS settings. Make the changes in your project (and template,

if necessary), and leave the families alone.
