Hi Hammer,

A couple of ideas

1. buy and solid state hard drive (SSD) and put it in yourself

2. buy a copy of windows pro (not retail, but OEM) and install it yourself - wipe the original drive clean if you keep the 750 GB with this laptop (better yet find a laptop that comes with windows pro and pay the extra $20/$30 to get the restore media for windows only - not all the bloat ware they pre-install on the system)

3. buy a refurbished DELL with two hard drives - make one your boot-drive a solid state drive (it wants to be an SSD if you can) - make the other your 'server'

In my opinion the biggest boost you can get in performance on a laptop is to switch to an SSD for your boot drive

-----------------------------------

think it - build it
