hi, i'm using Revit 2013. i was given an older Architecture model and opened it up. i placed the spaces in the model and renamed them. then i tried to export to a gbxml file to be used for analysis. i get an error message that there are no rooms in the model. why would i need to have rooms, if i have the spaces? i realize that when i was created, it was in Revit Architecture and not the new combined program. but i don't know why i would have to make rooms and spaces in the same place.

Rooms are RAC elements and Spaces are MEP elements. In the past Spaces were generated from the Rooms.

Not sure why the gbxml wants the model to include Rooms when it has Spaces ? Could be a glitch in the new 'combined' software?

Hi Vinny,

In the "export gbxml - settings" dialogue box change the export category from rooms to spaces.

I am having a problem when trying to import the GBXML from REVIT 2013 into Ecotect.

I get this message:

"WARNING: IFC support is only at beta stage in this release. Whilst detailed geometry should import, ifcSpace data and complex curves may not transform correctly"

And it does import nothing (0 spaces, 0 surfaces, 0 ...)

Does anyone know what the problem is? and How can this be solved?

I never had any problems when importing gbxml that were obtained from Revit2012.

No problem Vinny.

The additional thing that I asked about Ecotect can be taken as just a warning that maybe GBXMLs exported from Revit 2013 are not performing as they did previously.
