I'm representing a large body of water with a toposurface.  When I activate a section cut in 3D, the cut plane of that surface is rendered as "dirt" (see image).  I can't figure out how to change this.  Any ideas?  I realize I can just make this as a floor and solve the problem but am curious if I can learn something about topography here.

You will have to cut more depth for your pond and then fill it with water.... a pad then an in-place family - water material will work.

All topo surfaces cut as dirt.  No away around it.  WWhubs suggestion of modeling the water separately is all I can think of too--although that might have an odd overlapping effect where earth and water-massing share the same space.

Topography is one of revit's weaker aspects... sitework in general.
