I'd like to set up a structural framing plan for a sloped roof. Tried placing a level called structural roof level and playing with its view range, but no luck. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Not sure what the exact problem is but to start with creating a new 'sloped' reference plane (in an elevation or section view) and name the reference plane 'sloped Structural'. Then make set that as the current work plane and model the sloping members on that reference plane. The plan view just has to capture those objects in the view range.

I am trying to nest a parametric set of purlins into something similar to this, so that when I draw my roof, all detail components embed as well. I am having trouble, however, trying to align the nested purlin structure into a roof structure, as I can seem to get them to go at an angle. I attached a picture of what I am looking at. Thanks.

Detail components are 2d. Use model components. They will cut correctly.

Am I missing something? I didn't know I used any detail components...I inserted my purlin model, other than that I am not sure what you are talking about "detail components"

Sorry, I read this "...all detail components embed as well...". That mislead me.
I'm not sure what you are asking and what you are doing. Perhaps this family will help you:
