I dont often use revit for rendering but i have noticed occassionally that when I add an image to a material sometimes I get options for UVW mapping, but it seems to be totally random and I lose the options quickly.... does anyone know how to properly show these options at all times?

Did you mean different options than those that appear when you pick on the sample image that it is been used as appearance of the material and consists in "scale", "rotation" "tile", etc ?
