I've got a Revit Architecture 2010 project that I need to upgrade to Revit 2013. The model is still in design development and my consultants are using 2013 so i need to be on the same version. Not sure if it means anything but I do have a new 2013 project template. Since this project was started with a 2010 project template I just want to make sure im not going to have problems down the road. Any help I can get on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dale

You should not have a problem, we were working on jobs in 2011 and all we had to do was open the job in 2013 and save it, and it worked.

Everything in the project will simply be upgraded to the new release.
BE CAUTIOUS about one thing. All families will be upgraded but they will still point to your 2010 library. So if you edit a family, DON'T save it to the default location. Save it in your new 2013 library location.

Great. Thats what I wanted to hear. Good point WWHub. I've already saved all of my 2010 families to 2013. After i do the upgrade should I reload the 2013 families just to get the current version in the project or does it not matter? What about materials? I've applied materials to all of my wall styles and we know how different materials are in 2013. Will this cause any problems for me? Should I spend some time and fix the materials after I upgrade? Should I transfer walls and materials from my 2013 template? Just throwing some things out there . . . wondering what you thing.
Thanks
Dale

We don't bother to reset the family pointers - that is a lot of work. But it is an issue. We restrict library access here to certain ussers so we don't normally have a problem. It is a concern because we often have proects in 3 and sometimes 4 different Revit versions so we don't want our libraries corrupted.
There is no real material difference between 2011,12,13 but I can't remember when the big change was so you should take a look at your materials.
