If you want these to trim automatically, I don't think you can.

It doesnt really have to trim automatically!
I just need to trim them and keep them joined together when the window is resized.
Im having problems doing this without multiple voids which doesnt sound like a good idea

Not sure why you are using voids. I would think these are simple extrusions or sweeps controlled by reference planes. If the ends are cut to a special shape, then do that individually and don't join these items. If you join, the void will cut both items. These may be better done as separate families controlled by the host model.
I really think this kind of modeling is overkill and it bogs down your model. In most cases, we don't model hidden elements - just surface items. Then we add detail items to describe the shape in detail views.

Is it the same profile all the way around the window? You could make them a SWEEP in the actual window family. Or align and lock the edges to the window height and width reference lines.

I was trying to use voids to trim the extrutions, but yeah i agree it doesnt work as i wanted.
I know it slows down the model but the company i work for is producing these flashings and want me to try to figure out if i can make them automatically around the windows when they are inserted and then schedule them and make production drawings.
Yeah i thought about somehow making them as a seperate family controlled by the host family it sounds logical, but do you have any suggestion how to do it?

No there are differend flashings below the window and above otherwise i would have made them as a sweep
thank you guys for your response

Each flashing would be a seperate family with a simple sweep from one reference plane to the other and a void cut at the end(s). The distance between the planes would be a label dimension. In order to schedule this flashing the family will have to be shared and the distance parameter will have to be a shared parameter.
You can learn how to control nested families if you download the Families guide from the autodesk site.

BTW - You do not have to model these in order to schedule them.

thanks for your response
which family template would fit this best?
And what do you mean by that i dont have to model them to scehdule? do you mean that i would just make shared parameters to my window family that i would scehdule?
I think i will model them, I will try to have the possibility to isolate them insert dimensions for the production drawings

To schedule without modeling - Yes ... just a lshared family that has the element description and a length parameter that is controlled by the host family. It will then schedule and can be taken off.
