Are there any shortcuts?

is getting a new coworker an option?

"converting" Revit to AutoCAD involves simply Exporting the Revit file to an AutoCAD format. That process itself is not very difficult and time consuming but there may be other factors involved in your case that your coworker is struggling with.

It does take a long time to export Revit files to CAD. Especially if the computer is not good or the files are very heavy. It is also very stressful.

I have found that if I make a AutoCADD "sandbox" file works well.

I will take an exported view, say a floor plan.

Keep the layer names as assigned in Revit.

Revise the colors to match office standard. (we use colors to control line weights) Run a check plot. If OK save file as "Revit Transfer.dwg".

Now when I exprot file from revit, I will wblock the file into this new sandbox file. It will force the layers to comply with our plotting standard. As fas as changing layer names, forget it and move on.
