Hi - Just started using Revit 2013 and it seems to run really slowly on my computer (windows 7 64bit, 12GB RAM, 2.67GHz, NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800 graphics card).

For instance it takes like 10 seconds if I try to change the crop region of a basic plan view.  Multiple other slow downs as well.

Does anyone have any ideas or settings I should adjust to make this work better?  Revit 2012 gave me no such problems.  Could this problem be because I converted a file created in Revit 2012 to 2013?  I recreated the central file and have restarted multiple times to no avail.  Maybe I need a better computer??

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

how large is your project? the machine sounds ok, the gpu is a little low end. possibly a driver issue, go to Revits/Options/Graphics and see if it detects any issues

Thanks for the ideas.  Revit is warning me about "Older video card driver"

I used this link to download a driver update

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534&results=1&stype=graphic&suite_group=103&release=2013&edition=2&os=8192&manuf=all&opt=0

I will reply once I get it installed

Hi,

I 'm having the same problem here. Revit 2013 is much slower than 2012 used to be even in very small project files.

My PC is about the same. Win 7-64bit 12GB ram SSD disk 3,0Ghz and double (cro3sfire) video cards.

Sometimes it I find it is worth the time to take and do an Audit on your file when you do an upgrade. This helps to eliminate possible errors in the files.

Try to make sure that your temp file's had been cleaned up as well as this sometimes slows down Revit but not in every case. I would look at doing a disc clean up and ticking on tempory folder in the list.

When your working in the file is it specific views that are slow or is it all of them? Could be a view problem which can be fixed if done correctly.

Here are a few more options to look at to try and see if it can help your Revit out.

UPDATE - My Revit 2013 is working much better now.

IT people updated my graphics card NVIDIA Quardo FX 1800 Now with Version: 8.17.12.7642

The other thing that really helped was a setting in Revit

Go to the Options menu (under the purple 'R')

then under "Graphics"  >  Uncheck both boxes for "Use Hardware Acceleration (Direct #D)"  & "Use Anti-Aliasing"

Not sure what those options do, but it seemed to work better after that and I am running it without the slowness issue.  Autodesk seems to have picked up on this issue, because I watched a webinar last week about the upgrades to Revit 2013 and the presenter mentioned that turning off these 2 graphics settings could help proformance on some machines.

Hope this helps

I'm having a similair spec'ed laptop and going to start using revit 2014.Will the quadro fx 1800 be able to run revit 2014 when unchecking the two boxes? In the revit 2014 specs they says min. directx 11 and the GPU is only 10.1.Any experiences with that?I'm going to buy a new laptop in a year when we're going to work with larger models.Best Regards Henrik
