On the Sheet List filter button, it allows you to select "starting with" as one of the filter options.  In the sorting button, I wish I could have the option to sort using the "starting with" option.  My construction document sheet list has G1.1 as the first sheet in the plans, C1.1 as the first sheet in the next batch, A1.1 in the next, etc.  I know that you can create a sheet order column, manually number these sheets to get them to line up correctly, and then hide the curse column.  You do all of this to print a preliminary sheet list and then you have to unhide and go through this all again every time you add a sheet.  I want to have my sheet automatically line up in the normal way without a lot of work arounds.  I know people in hell want ice water, too, but I don't think this is too much to ask.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Sheet List sorting in REVIT kind of sucks. Very limited. REVIT really needs Sheet 'Sets' with better sorting options. SQL has been around before Bill Gates was born.

Sounds to me like your suggested work around is the best solution at this point. Designate all the sheets as soon as possible.

Change your order list to multiples of 10, so you can add sheets without renumbering everything.  e.g., if you are using AIA standards, list your A1.xx sheets starting with 10, the A2.xx sheets staring with 20, A3.xx with 30, etc.  If you want to add, say an L.1 before the A2.xx and after the A1.xx, give the list order for L.1 the number 19.
