Hello,

So today I was creating a sweep to be placed on top of a wall to whow the precast plank and slab bearing. Well I go into my 3d view to verify and when I rotate it starts doing a large sweeping arc like I have something way off in the middle od space, instead of the nice tight rotation around the model. So I start noticeing all the 3d views are like that. I notice if I use the "Zoom to fit all" tool in 3d it zoom way out and the model becomes a little spec on the side of the screen. So I use the "Revel hidden layers" (lightbulb) and notice the project base point and survey parameters are on the opposite side of the screen as the model. I have them hidden and turned off in VG-Site. So I also notice after a few hours that if I turn off my walls then the the 3d rotation comes back to normal but that really doesn't help. I tried deleting the walls and the sweep and nothing. I can create a section box and that helps but I would like to get to th root of the problem.

I also opened the Arch revit file and it was doing the same thing. I called them up and its fine for them. I used another computer and it was doing the same thing? Is it possibly a setting I accidently clicked?

Please help as I am totally lost on what to try.

Thanks, Mike!

Also, the "zoom to fit all" does zoom really far out on the plan views too unless they are cropped (which normally they are). The only thing I can find thats way out there is the Project base point and Survey location.

Your problem is those elements are model elements and they do describe your model extends.  In VG settings, under Site category, turn off "Project base point"  and "Survey point".

BTW - If you click on any vertical element in a 3D view, the model will then spin about that element as its axis.

Thats what I was thinking, WWHub. I already tried that and to no avail.

If that didn't solve your prblem then you have other elements out there.  Make sure you turned these items off in the views in question.  Then do a crossing selection beyond your building and chack out your filter.

WWHub, I just tried that at Couln't find anything. It somehow related to my wall, I think. When I turn them off under VG, everything is back to normal. Turn them back on and everything turns wacky. So I zoomed way out and highlighted the whole screen. Filtered to my walls. Deleted them just to see what happens and it still didn't fix it but if I hide them it fixes my problems. Does that make sense or did I just confuse myself and everyone else ? Smile. I am completly clueless on this one.

Are you using regular walls or walls by face ... or in-place walls?  You have added something.  Turn on your lightbulb and make sure everything is on in VG... I would work from a 3d vew.  It may be wll above your work plane.

There's an element of some sort far, far to the side of your project.  it could be in your model.  or it could be part of linked cad, or a linked revit model.

Even if some subcategories of a category are turned off, thus invisible and impossible to select, the extents will still be huge for the object at large... if that makes sense.

More likely, If you noticed this after working on you sweep, that would be the first place to check.  Is there any possibility that you left a reference line, reference plane, or symbolic line in plan/elevation/2D view while making these model-in-place caps?  These will not be visible in 3D, but will affect the extents of the model.

Recheck your extents in 2D.  It will reveal if there are any rogue lines.  Use the views you used to model in.
