Hi All,
I'm setting up Title Blocks for my new office which is in the process of migrating to Revit and have hit a few problems:
Issue #1. My Head of Technology tells me that all templates must use Arial due to collobration with consultants despite the practice using a specific font that's bought and paid for. This just seems wrong to me, is there a way to use the correct font in-house but have it converted to Arial before sending onto consultants?
Issue #2. The Logo. I'm trying to create the office logo as a Annotation Symbol using the Generic Annotation template using Filled Regions. I've exported the original logo from Illustrator into dwg format which contains b-spline curves. Problem: Revit won't "pick-lines" if they are b-splie curves. I converted b-splines to arcs in Microsation. Problem: Revit won't create Filled region's smaller thatn 0.8mm. I'm just about to try this workaround http://revitfix.blogspot.com.au/2008/07/tips-with-symbols-generic-annotations.html
Can anyone point me in the direction of how to learn how to create a scalable office logo using filled region?
Thanks
(Using Revit 2012)

Why would you want to do things one way for in house and then change them right before sending them out to your consultants? You would have to select the text, right click, select all instances in project then change the text to what you want but you would have to be careful that the text didnt shrink or grow causing a word to drop to the next line screwing up other things. My suggestion would be to do things one way only. If you have a client who likes things done a certain way then have 2 different templates or things are going to get missed and messy.
Issue #2
Theres a few threads on here about making logos that should be helpful if you search for them.

We like to use a font called Eterna for our titleblocks.
Several of our consultants didn't have Eterna, so we directed them to a download link where they could get it. I'm not familiar with actually buying fonts. That seems very... archaic to me. Odds are the font is probably free. If not, search your soul, and ask yourself if you'll go to hell for browsing to your font folder, grabbing the font file, and attaching it to an email CCed to your consultant list.
If it's truly an odd font... well...
I believe that revit automatically substitutes regular fonts for templates which call for exotic fonts. Early on, before we provided our consultants with Eterna, their titleblocks based on our titleblock family were covered in mis-matched Arial, so your problem might work itself out naturally.
We HATED the look of different titleblock fonts between architectural and structure, or example, so we put our foot down. I imagine you guys would want the same. But your call.

Hi Guys,
Thanks teafoe5/itsmyalterego for the replies. Sorry its taken me so long to reply back but I'm having a mad crash course in all things Revit for my new job and fonts has been the least of my collaboration issues.
I just thought I'd give an update on my situation as there's been some fallout resulting from some ugly Arial Title Blocks. We've decided to outline most of the title blocks text to filled regions in Illustrator where possible (even importing them into Revit as CAD dwgs if Revit wont allow regions smaller than 0.8mm (ridiculous by the way)). Labels and text that will need to change and the like will be done in a default font that closely matches the companies typeface.
I'm suprised Revit doesn't have the ability to embed fonts or have something similar to Adobe InDesign's Font Manager to susbtitue front on a global level making collaboration easier. I think you'll find most architetural practices use a typeface they've bought the license to use.
Thanks for the help.
