so i made a generic model as the basic shape of this bulding. its diamond shaped and veers outward at 45d from its footprint. i used the generic model and "wall by face" and got the shape i needed. only now i cant add openings or edit the wall profile and trim the excess. im thinking if theres a way to union 2 or more generic models it may work but i dont know how to do that in revit

so my question is. can you union generic models in revit?

When you say you made a generic model do you mean you did an in place component for your whole building with the generic model as you component?  I would have used a mass for this.  And if you used a component you should have used the WALL so that you get the correct effects that you are looking for.

the walls angle outward at 45 degrees. you cant edit the regular wall do that. so i used wall by face.

what im asking is if you can UNION generic model in place objects like you can in autocad to make a complex shape and then use wall by face

No, thats why you should have done it as a MASS and then added walls by face

You asked-

"what im asking is if you can UNION generic model in place objects like you can in autocad to make a complex shape and then use wall by face"

In me previous post I answered NO and then stated the correct way to do it.
