I've been using Autodesk products since release 1 in 1985 (I remember a breathless instructor saying "it can make an ARRAY!", then watching it draw an auditorium layout of 2-d chairs one at a time for a couple minutes).  So I was eager to jump into revit 2013.  Nice new display options "realistic" and "raytrace" and "sky" image background.  But as noted in their release readme, the "sky" images background should only be used to make a rendering, it is unstable.  I get lots of crashes in r2013, I am going to try to un-check the "sky" background.   Also it takes a very long time to load and convert from r2012 files:  seems like 15 to 20 minutes on 1st load.  My desktop has lots of ram and processor speed, wouldn't think that can't be it.  r2013 seems to semi-freeze up if you walk away from it for a while, then start working again, and other unexpected lags/freezes which seem like "saves" but aren't:  these feel like what earlier releases used to do if you didn't turn off the shadow display mode.

Very nice new parametric stairs feature.

Wow, based on this seems like production people should wait for the next build.
