I've been on Revit for about two months now. I am a senior in HS. I've already been through a book on Residential Design for Revit, I've been through the tutorials on the program. I would like to do some commercial architecture and learn how to create akward roofs, walls and custom pieces. What books would you recommend for revit?

Just play with the application. All the book go throught all the general types of roofs. Get a book or magazine showing different roof configurataion and try to modle them in Revit. The more you use the application the better you're get

I definately agree. Use is the best teacher. Find a building that you like (with the funky roof you're talking about, perhaps some different wall types too) and just start playing with building it in Revit. Your local library might have some books on specific famous buildings with detailed plans, sections, and elevations. Check one out and have fun applying what you learned about residential architecture to your commercial building. And if you get stuck, that is what the tutorials, and questions here and on other user support sites, are for.

I'd also recommend the book, "Autodesk Revit Building 8 by Sham Tickoo"; I use it as an reference book of sorts.
I find that taking notes of how I did things sucessfully (like structural roof or floor framing, roof dormers, etc) helps a lot after I recreate it two or three times to better remember it.

Thanks all for replys... i did get another book and it was very helpful. I've been in revit for a few months now... my experience has definitly grown. One of the best ways I learn was trial and error. The teacher is letting me instruct other students on the program. Im not obsessed with architecture or revit, its just something that i have an ability in. Anyrate I have entered into a few highschool competitions (skillsusa/vica) placed 2nd at region, Im hopeing to learn revit enough to win state compeitions this year (placed 4th last year (not with revit)) and Im in one comeptition that is a small commercial one. My first commercial project... I may post an image of it after I get the results.
