Hello everyone, i'm a CAD Manager for a medium size AE firm in upstate NY. We use architectural desktop for everything we do. Currently i have about 25 users. We have a extrememly large and prestigious project coming up. For those of yo ufrom this area you may have heard of Renniscience Square, approx 260 million in cost. The big bosses on this want to take everything to the latest and greatest with it. So they would like to do the project in Revit. No one here but myself has any Revit experience. What do yo uall suggest, were looking at a start time of about 1yr from now. I honestly think were crazy to do it. For those of you out there what are your opinions on this. Is there anyone i could talk to on using revit for large projects and about how to set things up. What do you suggest for good training, i mean we can model out brains out but there is still going to be alot of just linework needed to achieve the detail that needed for cd's. Please let me know some opinions onthis...... thanks evryone i and i look forward to reading your thoughts.

Hi. There are many large projects being documented in revit. (1million square feet ++ and i've seen billion dollar projects being documented). I suggest having a chat to some of the guys from SOM on the AUGI forums, but if you have a search there are already plenty of good discussions on such topics. The largest project i've personally documented in revit was about 150 million, with 2 staff pretty much full time and another 3 staff who joined in when needed. Its good that you're aware a year in advance. As a year is a good length of time to get everyone needed trained up and to plan out some of the logistics of the model. For instance, workset structure, revit construction methods, and how the team will work on the model will be the biggest things to think about. HTH.
