Hello all:I am looking at our export settings since moving from 2011 to 2012. Obviously in 2011 you could play with the text file which worked quite well for us, but since moving to 2012 i have a question. We were wondering why in the export settings box, where you can assign colour/layer you are not able to assign a colour/layer to imported catagories? All the imported dwg's are there, but we have no power over how they export. Also, we have several linked in Revit files, each with their own set of lines, but these do not seem to flow through to our main revit model, so I seem only to be able to change Lines that are specifically within the revit i am exporting from, not those linked in, is this correct? Thanks!

Yes, that was a step back in revit. What you have to do now is open the export in "R" then "cad formats" then "dwg files" and click on the button with 3 dots next to the field "select export setup" and a new dialog appears. In that you can search your old .txt file that you did with 2011 and/or edit the layer assigment as you did originaly. In that dialog IS the imported categories (scrolling down) you want. ok, I'm having a similar problem to the OP here. I realise this is an old thread, I'm working in Revit Architecture 2013.

back to a question the OP raised which hasn't been answered/I can't find from the information provided - where are the export layer settings for the linked REVIT files hiding?

I have my "building" file linked into my "site" file, the building file contains model lines with layers named for what they are representing (joinery, kitchen equipment etc), I need to set up these up to the correct layer name & colour when converted back to cad, but cannot find anywhere to change the layers for the lines in the linked model.

I have set up the export settings within the linked revit file, exporting directly from this file the layers come out correctly, but trying to export from the "site" file, the lines within the linked "building" file just export as the standard A-DETL, all one colour, type etc, and the people we are sending the cad files to, have no idea what is what. I dont have time to manually change every line in autocad once it is exported, everytime the building floor plan changes and I have to export it all over again, surely there is a way to modify the line export style of a linked file whilst inside my site file?

I have done the transfer project standards from the linked building file into the site file and it makes no difference.

-- as per above the "imported categories" section in that dialogue box are only imported .dwg files, not revit files.

sorry if i'm missing something simple, but I cannot for the life of me find how to do this and it is driving me mental!

please please please help me!

:-)

I believe linked files use the same settings as the host file.
