Hi,
I'm trying to create a wall buildup which I can wrap around a room whose walls are part of a linked model. So the wall that I need to take care of only consists of a 50mm insulation zone and then 22mm vertical timber batterns alternating between 75mm and 50mm widths at 40mm intervals. I attempted to make a new wall family and make all the batterns with extrusions but this didn't seem to work (maybe partly because I'm new to all this and so don't really know what I'm doing!)
Coloud anybody shed some light on the right sort of approach to take?
Many Thanks
Simon

There are no vertical elements in Revit walls except the layers. So no studs - no vertical battens. You can have a wall definition that has a layer for these elements ... like we do for normal studs - but in plan views, you just see the limits of this space.
So I suggest you define your wall with this layer and place this wall against the base model wall.

Hi, Thanks for reply. I did consider this, the only thing was we have been using the model to show finishes in perspectives and so it would have been perfect if the vertical batterns were a visible element. There would obviously be a very long winded way of creating each vertical battern as an extrusion and placing it but this would be very time consuming!

Oh... The battens are outside - not furring?
In that case, you can add vertical wall sweeps in elevation. But they can not be part of the wall definition.

You might consider making your own curtain wall. Just have vertical mullions in the profile you want. It's an extra wall, but easier (I think) than adding individual sweeps. You could also make a handrail, for that matter. At least with a curtain wall or handrail, your spacing is automatic and it keeps everything together.
