Hi I've modelled a bench as a new family and believe I have it setup right to allow me to change the bench length when in model_image attached), however when I import the family the bench length is greyed out and I can't change it, any help would be much appreciated.

Revit 2012

Many Thanks

Are you sure you can't?

I think it is a type parameter and you have to edit the type in the project or create a new type.

the problem is that you have a formula ("=2000mm") in the formula field, so your bench can only ever be 2000mm. Remove the formula. then click on the parameter name in the family and make sure it is set to instance, not type. This will allow you to edit the length in the project on a per instance  basis.

OR, you could make several types of the desired lengths, and then just place the appropriate type where you need it. In this case your length parameter should be set to Type, not Instance.
