In my family I have elements built above the view cut plane set to 7'-6" that are showing in my floor plan views in my project.  I thought the cut plane within your views in the family determine what is showing in your project.  Is there a way to get the elements higher up to only show in RCP and not in Floor Plan.

Check out your help page and it will explain the view range better.  Also the video is very helpful.

Its not the view range thats the issue, its the cuttable family types that are, under visibility there is no option to slect the cut feature.  We need to have an element show in RCP and not in Floor Plan but visibility combines the two together so it either shows in both or it doesn't.  The element is already above the view range in floor plan view within the family but because its categorized under specialty equipment the view range cut plane does not have any effect on the family.  The only solution we could find was to assign the elements to a subcategory that we then could turn off in our views.

This is a family issue!  If any part of the family is cut by the view's cut-plane, then the family will be shown according to the cuttable rules.  So if the family shows in plan, then it is being cut.

Here is what you didn't know.  That rule applies to anything in the family - including hidden lines!  Alter your family accordingly and it will not show in your plans.

I have attached the family I am talking about.  What would you recommend we change in this family so that the top track does not show in plan view when loaded into the project.  Thanks for the help.

Your problem is the vertical track and the doors are both cut by plan and RCP so since this is not a cuttable family, the whole family will show in both views.  You have to decide what you want.  If you turn the horizontal track off to not show in plan, it will not show in RCP either.  The ceiling track could be another family.

Seems like a subcategory to control visibility assigned to the track would be the easiest thing to do.  Not sure what else I can do.
