I think it would be worth while if the chat feature of this site automatically entered everyone who visits the site into the chat room. That way the chat feature might actually get used. Obviously I think that the chat feature could have great potential.

Doing some research for features on a new site, and crusing through some old posts... I'd like some more input on this idea. We've talked about this at Pierced Media, but the conclusion we came to was that because the chat system is not searchable (and never will be) this is not a good idea. An immediate entry into a chat system will encourage people to get an immediate answer from people in the chat room, which may mean the same questions may get asked over and over, more often than they are now, becuase the answers are not recorded anywhere in a searchable forum. We are planning on making the chat room more robust (so that it can hold more than the current limit of 10) and more inviting. Thoughts everyone?

How bout the ability to invite online users to chat perhaps from a post or something? Often threads are a lot of guess work to find out the actual issue so you can actual be of help. A quick invite into the chat room and you can work it out and perhaps the solution could then be sent to a post?? The main difficulty with the chat feature is noone is ever in there when you need them to be or when you are in there noone else is and its really difficult to notice... My 2 cents

(i apologize for my sometimes very poor english and spelling)

I agree that I would be nice to be able to invite people into the chat or to make it more apparent when people are on. The thing that gets me sometimes is that I will see people just sitting on the chat sometimes not talking. If you trying to get help this can be sort of frustrating. It would be nice that after a set amount of time the user is kicked off if they are not talking at all. Also, I know it can take alot of memory but have you ever thought about adding a gallery for movies. It would be nice to see peoples videos that they have created. Theres my 2 cents, keep up the good work!!!!!

Sorry to keep adding things but one thing that I just thought of is materials. I have collected some great materials over time and sometimes people want to use them. I would be great if we had a place to post materials as well. Hope people feel the same. OK.....Im done

Try joining IRC's Efnet, and goto #Revit.  It's a new sister channel to #autocad, an official AUGI chatroom.
