sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. I was wondering if there is a way to render one image using multiple computers over network in revit 2012.

I have a desktop and a laptop and my laptop doesn't suck too bad so it would be nece if it could help out my desktop with rendering.

I have a new gigabit switch to plug them both into as well.

is this possible?

I have not heard of rendering a still image across multiple PCs but would be interested in the process if possible.

You can however spread out a rendered video walkthrough output by splitting up the frames.

FULL 'DOWNLOAD ACCESS' to all 850+ CADclips videos for only $150

revit does not have backburner support. a work around would be to duplicate your 3d view and set one to render the upper region and the other to render the lower region. then combine to the two images in photoshop.

Assuming you are looking for faster rendering via more computing power; I have not tried it, but Autodesk subscription members can download and use Project Neon which will render via Autodesk's "Cloud".  Presumably this would be faster.  I seem to recall reading somewhere about some limitations of it, but again, I haven't tried it.  HTH

Neon is ok but if you are using photometric lighting you have really no options on adjusting anything. it does ok for daylight scenes, very fast.
