Hi all, fed up with Microstations pricing policies, I have taken the plunge and moved over to Revit, very impressed so far.

Just one first quick questions - Placing levels, I want to set 50 floor levels all at equal 4500mm floor to floor.  I can not work out how I can do this except one at a time.

Thanks

Did you think about trying array?  Works for me - from an elevation view.

I agree with WW.

Always nice to steal another Bentley body away.

In 30 words or less what's the issue with the microstation pricing policies ?? We're all ears.

I bought Microstation and subscribed to its Select service (updates, add ons etc) for many years (since it was on the apple platform).  However, I found that my work was shifting more towrads project management and nort design, also I was located in a relatively remote area.  I wasn'treally getting any value from teh select service, so I cancelled it and was happy to use the Microstation version I had.   Later this year I am told by Bentley that my license to use he product will be terminated (even though I bought it and don't want any upgardes), unless I subscribe to thier "Select" service.   I then enquired about upgrading my software to Bentley Architecture and learning the BIM products etc (Thsi may make teh select more valuable even though I appreciate their might be a payment upgrade price too.

However, I have now moved country and todl by Bentley the license is only applicable to the company that bought it (I was self employed), and / or in the jurisdication that it was purchased.  Their recomendation is that I apply for an upgrade when I am living back in the UK, but as I am living in China now, I must buy the software as anew user.  So later this year my Bentley softare will stop working and I can only get it working again if I pay the select fees, via my old business in another country.

I enjoy using the Bentley products, but I thought I had "bought he software"  turns out its more like a leasing agreement where you pay them a lump sum, plus annual licencing.  I have spent a lot of money on the Bentley products and thsi year I will be prevented from using them by the timeout licesnsed software.

So now, I have moved over to Revit.  :o)
