Is there a easy method for creating an electrical plan with symbols for receptacles, switches, etc. within Revit MEP?
I don't find any "out of the box" symbol library. Seems like it sould be under annotation--- component---detail component.

If you want just 2D elements for your plan, you have to load them into your project using the Insert > Load Family tool.
They should have installed into C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RME 2012\Libraries\US Imperial\Annotations\Electrical or
some variation depending on your installation. Then use the Annotation > Symbol tool to place them. Hope this helps.

Yes it helped. This gives a fairly good variety of symbols.
