So I use create mass very rarely.  What happened?  I used to be able to build a timber truss out of one extrusion and now I need to use a combination of masses and voids?  Is this easier in the long run?  I had to get online to find out how to make all that stuff again.

Maybe use an in-place family with a single extrusion like you used to ?

Are you using conceptual mass rather than just an in-place family?  I don't see any changes really in 12 in the in-place modeling.

Massing definitely changed. There is now a 'conceptual mass' (created externally from the mass template file, allowing parameters etc) , an 'in-place mass' and an 'in-place family'. They all have solid and void elements that resolve each other.

The in-place families (as well as external families) still use extrude, blend, revolve, sweep and sweep blend.

Massing uses 'create form' to convert 2d geometry into solid and void objects that can be further manipulated by face or by edge.

Conceptual Massing can take advantage of 'parameters' or variables because it is an external file that gets loaded into the project.

Hope this info helps . . .

Aaaaaand I'm back.  In-place families are where it is at.  Thanks everyone.  I was using conceptual mass instead of in-place families.  I feel like a dope.

Thanks again!
