Having trouble with Shared Coordinates.

After spending hours tagging the objecs and having brought the 2 models (Existing & Proposed) into the simulation package discovered that the models are sitting in different locations.

When linked one to other inside Revit discovered the same problem, although Project base point matches (see attached).

Binding doesnt work due to some errors. Any advice how to solve this. Must avoid moving the objects inside the 4D package, loading in amended models will cause problems.

Thanks in advance!

There is a good article in the AUGI/Edge magizine that deals with this.  Getting Oriented With Revit’s Coordinate System  Look on the RC home page for a link to the downloadable magazine. 2009

Also:  REVIT's Help is very good if you learn to use it.

To publish coordinates:

  1. Click Manage tabProject Location panelCoordinates drop-downPublish Coordinates.
  2. Place the cursor on a linked model instance and click.
  3. Select a named location from the linked model, and click OK.

    See Defining Named Locations.

The linked model file now has the same shared coordinates as the host model file.

And finally:

Follow this old tutorial on origins (NOTE REVIT IS NOT AT ALL LIKE CAD!!!):
