Does anyone have any actual experience using Revit Server between two offices? I understand I'll need a local network server in each office and a dedicated "Revit" Sever at our main location in addition to firewalls on both sides.  We're looking to implement "Revit Server" in our firm. I'd like to find out if there are any performance issues between locations or any other issues I should be aware of before commiting to this substantial investment.

Thank you.

So how are things going with your REVIT Server (RS) implementation ? Any good info to share : )

Up to REVIT 2012 RS used a 'Spoke' model as you indicate. One primary Central Server and local servers that cached the model until sync takes place with the Central server. The local servers need the Local Server software installed with the Central Server IP. The main REVIT model (central file) resides on the Central Server.

RS 2013 has changed (improved) from a 'Spoke' model to a 'Matrix' model where there is no Primary Central server. They are all local servers but there are different roles. Host, Accelerator and Admin. I believe this addresses some performance issues that existed with large files.

I'll be inplementing this myself soon. Please share any good information here if you can.

yes, i have on RS 2012. Three offices are working on the same model.

You must have VERY fast link between the offices, for changes in the model be propagated between the servers.

If you miss the quality of the link, weird things (unfinished syncs, lost elements, locked models) will happen.

We are running IPSec channel, ping to the Central server is 50 ms right now.
