I am trying to create a family using the Generic Model template that will work in both a horizontal (parallel with the reference level) and vertical position (perpendicular to the reference level). I know that you can check the 'Work Plane-Based' option in the family parameters but then your level of reference disappears because it is hosted by a work plane instead of the level. I need the level data for filtering and scheduling purposes and have found the phasing tools to be severly lacking.
The other aspect of my conundrum is that these families will be put into groups and so its not like I can just assign a shared parameter to all of the objects to accomplish my filtering and scheduling needs. It would be nice if you could assign the shared parameter to the group itself but Autodesk isn't supplying that so I am looking for a work around.
I would appreciate any insight from the pro's on this...
Thanks.
