Hello. I am glad that I could be able to join. I will need the all the help I could get.

What do you think is the best way for me who is very familiar with AutoCAD, to get started with Revit? I'd like to use both in the near future.

Thanks!

Start on a small project, use your help, read the forums. When all else fails, try and post a question. Use pictures if you can, as they will help. I use Zing, which is a fast capture routine, it also helps in the chat. Revit has a steep learning curve, but if you use AutoCad as a 2D tool, which most of us had, you will not want to go back. You might want to get one of the many books out there. Mastering Revit say to go along with the help. Good Luck

Hi. This forum is really informative specially for us newbies and beyond... I'm thinking to start making a curtain wall wherein in each aluminum mullion profile are detailed parts.

I would be grateful to hear some advise/suggestion how shall I start. Shall I make a "mullion sectional detail" family first? If so, how?

You can use the supplied mullions, or you would have to make your own family, and follow the manufacturer's details. Some manufacturer's now have made families for revit, not sure about the mullions you want to use.

I suggest you DON'T use the manufacturer CW systems.  They over model and the profiles will give you fits.  Use simple rectangular mullions for your models and save the manufeacturer profiles for your detail sections.

What I understood is that I use a simple rectangular profile and make a separate detail, I am right? The point is that I need to present the 3D as well as a 2D detailed section within the mullion.

Thanks
