I have a condo style project. multiple units that are grouped. within each group I have walls doors windows and components. I want to generate a schedule of all the doors in a particular group or unit. the problem is when i create an instance parameter for the doors it says

Changes to groups are allowed only in group edit mode. Use the Edit Group command to change to all instances of a group type. You may use the "Ungroup" option to proceed with this change by ungrouping the changed group instances.

I also need to be able to tag this value in planview so definitly a shared instance parameter. the problem is once they are grouped you cannot do this. i made a door style scedule... problem with that is that you cannot tag the room style because it cannot be a shared parameter, nor can you bring in shared parameters.

I have scowered the  net.

same issue no result.

for some reason the mark can be changed into groups but unfrtunitly that would mess up my door numbers.

can some one either give me a doable or not doable opinion or hopefully a great walk around?

Not sure I understand but here goes...

Doors in groups may have different door numbers but that is all.

Why are you using trying to add an instance parameter to a door for this when you have your rooms?  Simply add a category to your romms called "Unit Number", in your door schedule include door "to room" column, pick your added room parameter "Unit Number" and filter accordingly.

the problem is that we need an shared instance parameter to schedule, and tag. this parameter would be the door style in the table. problem is you cannot tag a keyname so i need an instance parameter.  simple enough unless you have groups. i need to creat this value to be able to identify a single flush door for a bathroom as S03 and a single flush door for  another room as a different S0#.

I can use the mark value for this but then I loose the door number. is there a way to acomplish this without ungrouping.... see attached schedule

Don't use a key schedule as your schedule....That data will populate the data for each door and the door number can be used.

Obviously we are not communicating.

Do you understand what Schedule Keys were meant for?

In the group editor, assign each door to your appropriate "Door Style" - that will automatically populate these doors with the appropriate data from your schedule key.   Now outside the group editor, number each door as you wish using the instance Mark parameter (That is permitted).  Now schedule your doors.
