Is it possible to populate "Type Mark" or other fields in a schedule using Equipment Tags located in Drafting Views?  I have created a Detail Item Tag, but it will not report anything to the schedule?   How do you tag items in a Drafting View and have them report to a schedule?  Any Suggestions would be helpful.

The drafting views are not BIM and will not schedule because you are not tagging the object in the model, you are tagging a 'faked' drafting view of the real model.  Create a view of the equipment in the model and then you will be doing things BIM.  Do you have the equipment modeled, or just drafted with 2D lines???

Thanks.  I have Simplified Equipment in the model.  The problem is there are lots of parts and pieces on each piece of equipment that I am trying to tag and show in the schedule  - Various fittings, valves, etc.  So, I thought I could create a Detail Component Family and insert that into a drafting view and be able to have it possibly tag correctly in the schedule.

You'd have to do each component as a nested family to get it to schedule right, be sure to check the 'shared' box in the family props.  You might consider making a fake tag as an annotation symbol and a non BIM schedule with lines and text like CAD.

Thanks for your help.  I didn't think nested families were able to be tagged independantly from the "Host" family.  I will look into that.  I can create "Dumb" objects as Placeholder objects in the model and hide them, and the schedule populates correctly, but it might be just as easy to stick with the fake tags and 2D linework.

I have never done what you are trying to do, but I am pretty sure if you check 'shared' in the nested family's properties when you are in the family editor it will tag like you are trying to do.
