is there a way to assign a subcategory to roof fascias? I guess my question is can you assign any object in revit to a subcategory?

Only external families can be assigned particular subcategories. With the exception of wall sweeps as they have a parameter specially created for this purpose.

Actually you can assign subcategories to in place families by going to that object's properties and changing it there (At least you can in Revit 8.1, I don't know about previous versions of Revit) - Jon

Sorry what i should have said is that system families cannot be assigned sub-categories.

kinda stupid that they give you the option to do so then... i was sitting here for awhile wondering how to connect my sub category i just made for my walls to an actual part of my wall system..
