When I place a wall sweep on a wall with penetrations, multiple segments are created.  Is there a way to eleminate/delete some segments with out deleteing the whole?  Now, my work around is to drag them over to look like one single segment, but that creates duplication and looks messy.  Any tips would be appreciated.

It sounds like you have already learned the only solution.

Each sweep has two ends - one at each true end.  Openings that break the sweep do not really create seperate segments.  Your solution is to drag one end back across the openings until you have only one segment.  Then add another sweep along the same line and drag both ends until you have another segment.  And continue.....

Maybe just do it an an in-place family instead of the sweep tool ?

Sorry for the delay, I haven't been in front of a computer in a while.  I created a wall based family and used that instead of the sweep, it was a nice work around.
