We are currently upgrading (finally) to Revit 12 Building Design Suite Premium, which includes Sketchbook Designer. Now, none of the Architects in the practice currently use any CAD programme for their initial sketching & their workflow goes:

1)Drawing Board - 2)Photocopier - 3)Photoshop to do Planning stage drawings - 4)Technical Team print out - 5) measure & recreate in Revit

So, my query is 'Will Sketchbook Designer take out the first 4 stages & provide what we've been lead to belive is the link between the Architects & Autocad?' None of the top architects have ever used CAD and the youtube videos showing a tablet interface have piqued their interest enough for us to look at investing in this technology, but is it worth it?

Definitely, the first 4 processes can be eliminated. Your question would be, 'Who will eliminate them?" If your Architects will not step up (to Revit), you'll be very much disappointed on what Revit promises to do for you, that it does to others Reviters.

Thanks mhans, I just needed the 1st 4 removed, the main Architects are very busy, and the process of learning Revit is so time consuming that I don't think that untill the rest of the office has 'gone Revit' they'll be able to learn (and there are a few architects in line to learn). I just see sketchbook as a back door to interfacing with a cad programme without learning one as the vectors can be exported to autocad/revit (I am correct in this?). It's not the best solution but if we can remove the stages of measuring & checking by the technical team that on it's own would be an improvement
