So, our structural engineers create their revit structural model and we link it into our project. Unfortunately for us, they have 3-dimension walls up to some seemingly arbitrary height, and every view, section etc, shows these. To remove them from obstructing views and the visual information of our model, in every view we have to do the following:
-open visibility graphics
-"Revit Links" tab at top
-click on the "display settings" custom button
-click the "custom" option [by host view/by linked view/ custom]
-then click on model categories tab at the top
-click the drop down bar for the Model categories and change from <by host view> to <custom>
-Go to the bottom, and uncheck the box for "walls"
QUESTION: is there a way to apply some "default view template" that i'd create that will complete the above action automatically? Or is there a way to turn off all walls in the revit model as we're linking/bringing it in?
Thanks!!!

You kind of answered your own question.
Create a new 'View Template' once you have one view setup.
Then make that the 'Default View Template' for the view(s). This is a view property.
Then you can apply the 'Default View Template' to multiple views at once.
That should help.
Read up on 'View Templates'.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I tried several iterations to try and get it to work through the view template, but i must not know how to get it to work, since it's not. In the attached picture you'll see the options, on the parameter "v/g overrides RVT links" i have the revit link walls turned off but that doesn't seem to work.
Any further thoughts?
thanks

Did you apply the view template to the view? Simply assigning it does nothing. Assign it then right click pick the view in the browser and pick apply default view template.

thank you! it hadn't occured to me to hit the apply button, because on the properties bar, in identity data for the view, i had the "default view template" set to the correct view template that i had created, but there's no option there to "apply". Seems silly you can choose the template there but not apply it, but oh well.
that did the trick.
Thanks again
